I'm running because District 1 deserves a council member who brings real experience to real transparency — open books at City Hall, community-benefit agreements that deliver, and investment that reaches every block, not just the ones near the cameras.

For over 16 years I've served as Chief Operating Officer of a small business right here in Inglewood. Running a shop day in and day out taught me how to manage a budget honestly, keep promises to the people who count on you, and fix problems instead of talking around them — the same approach I want to bring to City Hall.

I've spent years serving my community outside of business too: as Vice Chair of the Inglewood Unified School District (IUSD) Asset Management Advisory Committee, as a member of the General Plan Advisory Committee (GPAC), and with Next Level Inglewood. Those seats taught me how land-use decisions, school facilities, and city planning connect — and how often residents are the last to know about decisions that affect them most.

William Perez is running because too many decisions get made downtown without ever asking District 1 residents what we actually need. This district is renters and homeowners, longtime families and new neighbors, every voice belongs at the table.

Family is a big part of why I care so much about this community. I've been married for 35 years, and my wife and I have raised two daughters — both married now — and we're proud grandparents to three grandchildren. Our grandkids attend Kelso Elementary right here in the Inglewood Unified School District, which means the decisions I've spent years working on through IUSD's Asset Management Advisory Committee aren't abstract policy to me. They're about the same schools and streets my own grandchildren grow up in.
